CENTRE SCHWEITZER – Dans les pas du Prix Nobel de la paix
Since August 2019, the Albert Schweitzer Museum has been undergoing a makeover. In the footsteps of the Nobel Peace Prize winner, in the heart of his native village, the Schweitzer Centre will reopen its doors to the public on 2 August 2023. This unique place in Alsace will be based on Albert Schweitzer's work for peace to show that peace is everyone's business. It will offer a new approach, educational and fun, based on the values of Albert Schweitzer.

Reopening of the new Schweitzer centre dedicated to peace in August 2023!
In the footsteps of the Nobel Peace Prize winner Albert Schweitzer, born in Kaysersberg, this interpretation centre around the universalist message of peace proposes audacious installations and the use of digital technologies, which will make it a unique place in Alsace.
Enjoy a fun and original experience, based on the humanist principles dear to Albert Schweitzer: freedom, tolerance and mutual respect.
The Schweitzer Centre focuses on the notion of the Nobel Peace Prize and its current resonance. It is dedicated to the promotion of the universalist notion of Peace, which is present in all of Albert Schweitzer's work. Peace, the driving force behind Albert Schweitzer's work, is approached from different angles and in a logical progression, enabling all visitors to become aware of the universal and timeless nature of the thought of Albert Schweitzer, Nobel Peace Prize winner. A large part of the exhibition is devoted to museography and scenography, in order to highlight the content of the collections and to integrate new technologies into the displays, thus contributing to the quality of the exhibition.

The Schweitzer Centre is open from Wednesday to Monday, 10.30 am to 1pm and 2pm to 5.30 pm (closed on Tuesdays).
Closed in January, 1 May and 25 December.

The site is accessible to people with reduced mobility and pushchairs. On the forecourt of the Centre Schweitzer, a staircase and ramp provide access to the reception area. -
For hearing-impaired people wearing a hearing aid, the Centre Schweitzer's route is equipped with a Magnetic Induction Loop (MIL) or hearing loop, enabling the wireless transmission of sound between a public address system and the hearing aid of the hearing-impaired person. -
For the visually impaired, the Centre Schweitzer offers an audioguide to help them discover Albert Schweitzer's work of peace.
