The Wallpaper Museum located in Rixheim in Alsace, labeled Museum of France, will change your view on this mode of decoration that you think you know! You can admire wallpapers dating from the 18th century to the present day, from dominoté papers to the creations of contemporary designers. The panoramic views that open up the walls to distant lands, exotic landscapes and idyllic gardens invite you to dream. Transport yourself to early 19th century India or North America, relive the Greek War of Independence and admire the exuberant flora of El Dorado.

Closed on Mondays and Tuesdays.

Wallpaper museum
The presence of the wallpaper industry in Rixheim began with the installation in 1797 of the Hartmann Risler & Cie factory, later the Zuber & Cie factory (still active) in the former Commandery of the Teutonic Order. The Wallpaper Museum, which opened in 1983, holds the factory's collections as well as sets from the former Mulhouse Industrial Museum, to which have since been added numerous purchases and donations that have doubled the initial collection.

Ligne n°11. Départ sur le parvis devant la Gare de Mulhouse – Arrêt Commanderie (devant le magasin Leclerc) à Rixheim. Se diriger tout droit dans le sens d’arrivée et au carrefour suivre le fléchage « Musée du Papier Peint » ou « Hôtel de ville ».
Aller ligne 11 – dépard arrêt Gare central pour aller à Rixheim (direction Centre Nautique ile Napoléon )
Retour ligne 11 – dépard arrêt Commanderie pour aller à Mulhouse (direction Gare centrale)

En sortant de la gare de Rixheim, prendre l’avenue de Gaulle en suivant le fléchage « Centre Ville » puis « Musée du Papier Peint » ou « Hôtel de ville » (10-15 minutes à pied).
